I came into this experience hoping to become a better leader. I left having learned something far more fundamental about myself, my relationships, and the way I move through the world. As someone who is accustomed to being the leader, the facilitator, or the caretaker, I found it surprisingly difficult to be in a room where I had no defined role. I had to confront parts of myself that I hadn't fully understood, and allow other people to influence me in ways I couldn't anticipate or control. Some of the most profound learning came from moments of discomfort, misunderstanding, and vulnerability. Others came from witnessing the extraordinary capacity people have to make one another feel seen, loved, and understood. The organizers really brought together remarkable people and created the conditions for a kind of learning that cannot be taught through a lecture, a framework, or a case study. They trusted us to find our own way through it, and gave us the space to discover things we might never have encountered otherwise. I left with a deeper understanding of myself, genuine love and admiration for people who had been strangers just days earlier, and lessons I expect will stay with me for a very long time. I'm profoundly grateful for the experience.
